Halat Sophie Askari
Hi, I’m Halat, and I’ve been a personal trainer since 2015, certified by SAFE Education. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, a highly regarded institution in the field. My studies focused on rehabilitation, senior training, and back pain. Since 2015, I’ve led well over 10,000 PT sessions, yoga classes, and group training sessions.
My yoga journey began with a 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa certification in 2017, followed by a 300-hour Vinyasa certification in 2020. I’ve also completed Yin Yoga Level 1 and 2 trainings with Ulrica Nordberg, along with several independent courses in anatomy, physiology, and training science. I truly believe the human body is the most fascinating thing in the world.
I started teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary teacher trainings just a year after beginning my own practice. Since 2018, I’ve co-created trainings, courses, and workshops in Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin Yoga, anatomy, and strength training, and I’ve taught throughout Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. Teaching is my dharma—it’s the reason Yogaskolen exists today.
For a long time, I practiced Ashtanga Mysore, but I eventually realized it just didn’t work for my body. The Primary Series is a beloved sequence worldwide, so it was tough to admit that its structure wasn’t anatomically sustainable for me.
To avoid injury, I had to counterbalance many of the forward folds with different movements. I began exploring my body slowly and mindfully, rather than pushing through the poses. I focused on feeling my way into the postures rather than hoping I was getting them “right.” This new approach led me to Vinyasa, where I’ve stayed ever since. Challenging the nervous system through yoga is my favorite style—think creative transitions, energizing music, and high vibes.
